Sustainability<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Raised Beds<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Many of our residents enjoy pottering around the gardens and take an interest in the vegetables growing in the section by the greenhouse. With this in mind, and following a kind donation from the Hartwell Trust, we have decided to raise the vegetable\/flower beds to a height more practical for our residents. We hope that some will be able to plant their own vegetables or flowers. Feedback from the residents tells us how much our gardens contribute to their sense of calm and well-being. We know we are very fortunate to have such delightful gardens around the Home and we try our best to keep them looking attractive.<\/p>\n

Day Care<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

We have recently added a new service at The Manor House. We believe there are many carers in the local community that would welcome a break and we would like to invite their loved one to spend the day with us! \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our Day Care guests have all their meals provided (as well as teas and coffees through the day) and are able to join in any of the activities being run. They would be in a safe and secure environment with an opportunity to socialise with our residents.<\/p>\n

We believe this is a worthwhile new service and we are delighted to be able to offer this to our community.<\/p>\n

New Facilities for the Residents:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The new \u2018Pavilion\u2019 has been has proved a lovely addition to the Home. We call it the \u2018Pavilion\u2019 to recognise the connection between the Manor House and the famous Notts and England cricketer George Parr who was born here.<\/p>\n

As part of this we have developed a patio area in front of the \u2018Pavilion\u2019 with suitable furniture so that it can be enjoyed in the warm weather. Access is through a level path so that wheelchair users are also able to get to this lovely new area.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead we are hoping to be able to upgrade the courtyard area and make it easier for the residents to access this space from the small lounge. Our plans are still being worked up.<\/p>\n

Longer term we have an ambitious plan to build a traditional style \u2018orangery\u2019 which would be connected to one of the main lounges. This would offer a wonderful bright and airy space for residents and relatives to spend time together.<\/p>\n

Activities:<\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/a><\/h3>\n

We will continue to invest in offering more activities for our residents. We now have two coordinators working for the Home with the aim of providing a wide range of\u00a0 entertainment and and activities. The picture is of the Halloween get-together which was a bit scary (the kitchen did 'spiders' for tea) but good fun as well!<\/p>\n

Internal D\u00e9cor:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/a><\/h3>\n

Inside the Home we plan to continue with our programme of redecoration in order to keep the Home looking fresh and attractive. The Dining room is looking much brighter with the brand-new tables and chairs installed, new blinds and a complete redecoration. We have also just added a \u2018seascape\u2019 mural to one of the walls \u2013 painted by a member of staff! This Spring we aim to redecorate and refloor the corridors in order to brighten up the main building.<\/p>\n

Wild garden:<\/span>\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are hoping to create a 'wild' space in the gardens that are so much enjoyed by our residents. Technology permitting, we hope to install a camera or two with feeds into the Home so that our residents can watch inside a bird box or maybe something like a hedgehog box. This will bring the beauty of the garden into the Home for those less able to get out.<\/p>\n
